Suwa serves as an ideal gateway for discovering the many charms of Japan. Matsumoto Castle is less than an hour away by car, Kamikochi can be reached in about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and the Snow Monkeys in approximately 2 hours. For those traveling by air, Haneda Airport can be reached in about 3 hours, and Chubu Centrair International Airport in roughly 3 hours and 30 minutes.
When coming by train
Shuttle Service
(JR Kamisuwa Station – West Exit)
A complimentary shuttle service is available between JR Kamisuwa Station (West Exit) and Sui Suwako.
Pick-up from JR Kamisuwa Station: 14:30 – 17:00
Return shuttle to JR Kamisuwa Station: Until 11:00 (after check-out)
- No reservation is required. Please contact us upon arrival at the station.（TEL：0266-58-3434）
- Shuttle service is available only during the above hours.
Directions from JR Kamisuwa Station to the Shuttle Pick-up Point
- Exit the ticket gates at JR Kamisuwa Station and turn right.(The ticket gates are located only on the East Exit side.)
- Take the stairs or elevator up to the connecting passage.
- Proceed toward the West Exit (Lake Suwa Exit) and go down to ground level.
- The Sui Suwako shuttle pick-up point is located around the rotary.
When coming by car(Suwako Smart IC)
*Opening at 15:00 on July 27, 2025.
Passengers with ETC-equipped vehicles can exit at the “Suwako Smart Interchange”.
